Pasting PNG greatly reduces image quality

This is just a png I created with photoshop about 480 px -- the problem still occurs at other sizes
I pasted it into anki after disabling all other add-ons on this shows the side by side results of viewing the image with an external file viewer and by previewing the card.
I started anki in safe mode and tried pasting in the image again and the two appear identical.
Hi @or-dodson have you tried changing your add-on settings? There is a fast mode and a smooth mode. Which mode you're in can make a big difference. See below.
Settings can be changed at Tools>Image Resizer. If you see use fast resizing you should be able to click on it and switch it to use smooth resizing. Then click OK. Please let us know if this solved the issue or not!
