The limitation of high viscosity

PavelBlend opened this issue · 3 comments

Hello!

Is it possible to create a liquid with very high viscosity with the help of mantaflow?
As in this example:

If not, why does mantaflow have a high viscosity limit?

Hi! It seems high viscosity is a popular feature - good to know!

With Mantaflow it is unfortunately not possible right now. The "liquid coiling" just hasn't been implemented yet. Let's just keep this issue open as a ToDo until it's possible.

And is still popular with Viscous Buckling Effect. Like here:

But now in mantaflow you can create only water and oils.
but I would like to be able to create honey, chocolate and even more viscous liquids.

I didn't see you respond on this thread over on Blender's devtalk, @sebbas, but they link to a paper about a method for accounting for shear stress on the surfaces of fluids that would make this possible.
