Allow backup to SMB / CIFS shares mounted to SAF

Using CIFS documents provider app from f-droid ( https://f-droid.org/packages/com.wa2c.android.cifsdocumentsprovider/ ) I mounted a SMB / CIFS share to an Android device over the local network

The share appears in the Files app so it appears to be available via SAF ( please see attached screenshot )

When I try to select a location for backing up from within SeedVault, it does not allow me to choose the shared directory ( please see second attached screenshot )

I understand there's a hard-coded allow list which would have to be modified when building SeedVault to allow using it. Could that be modified to allow backing up to a PC or NAS share over SMB / CIFS ? This is a request that comes up often from SeedVault users - it's an FAQ - "How do I back up to my PC ?"
