Use monitor mode instead of active monitor mode

i see this software require something called active monitor mode
is it possible to just use normal monitor mode?
The problem being that i have to plug a usb/network adapter into my phone in order to use this software which is inconvenient

You need active monitor mode, "normal" (passive) does not work.
