Seeking Maintainer(s)

shabegom opened this issue · 12 comments

I no longer have time to maintain Buttons. There is a half finished update that needs to be completed which resolves many issues. Seeking mainter(s) to finish the update and take over the plugin. I can meet and discuss update options.

If a new maintainer isn't found I'll be forced to archive this plugin and remove it from Obsidian.

I'd love to help

I can also help if you can give me some directions on what needs to be done. To be honest, I wasn't too active on my own plugins in the past few months, but that should change in the next 2 weeks, as I have more time starting next week :).

@LostPaul and @mProjectsCode, thanks for offering! I'd love to have a chat with y'all to talk through the existing codebase and what my update plans were. Could y'all send me an email at: sam@shbgm.ca so we could find some time to connect over the next couple of weeks?

I'd love to help out! Although I'm a beginner programmer.

Happy to contribute

I'm interested in helping out. I wanted to help out, but my toy OSS project from back then is still ongoing and taking all my OSS time.

Thanks to everyone who has offered to help. I've reached out to the first few folks and am going to try and get things organized. The beautiful thing about open source is that anyone can contribute. Once we have the core maintainer(s) sorted I'm sure they will appreciate pull requests and responding to issues. I'm grateful to the community for the help and support!

Any news on this? You unlocked the convo again but did not comment if you found a new maintainer or what's happening 😅

I had some initial interest but the code is kind of a disaster that it's hard to gain momentum. Meta Bind is reimplementing most of the functionality of buttons so will be a viable replacement at some point. I'm trying to keep the lights on as much as possible. If anyone else wants to help you can DM me on Discord.

AH missed the point of them adding buttons to run things. Not very prominent on their github Readme but I found the docs. I'll see if I can replace my use cases with those as I alreadu use that plugin anyways.

Thanks for the heads up!

~Cheers

Hello! I am interested in helping, but wasn't able to find your Discord listed anywhere. Let me know if this is still open!
