Troublingly high CPU usage

🤷🏽♂️ Current Behaviour
It's very noticeable, keeping it on just for a half an hour turned the idle CPU temp of my laptop from 40~ish C up to around 60ish C. On performance monitor, its average processing power use is close to the highest, at all times.
Turning it off lowers the CPU temp down back after a while, with the fan activity noticeably going back down, too.
🎯 Expected Behaviour
Hoping that it doesn't consume so much resource.
I honestly cannot recommend this software at all if it throttles the CPU this much just to get a darker screen. Not worth potentially lowering the lifespan of the machine from high heat just to get lowered brightness.
