Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu Jammy with Gnome 42 and the service is not working anymore when gnome set to darkMode.
It seems the nes gsetting command is gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri-dark {filename}

Having the same problem for 22.04.

I just made a PR for that, so maybe fixed soon
