HASS occasionally doesn't respond to MQTT command

I've been running into an issue increasingly lately, where I go to run one of my commands, and it just doesn't work.

If I go into HASS Workstation, edit the command, and click the test button, everything works as expected. If I go and run the command by flipping the switch in home assistant, nothing seems to happen. I looked in MQTT Explorer, and I see set = ON for the command. This never seems to go away, but if I delete it, and then run the command again, I can see set = ON come back in the appropriate place. But the command doesn't appear to get run, so it's as if Hass WS just ignores this, or misses it.
