Pause and ACK events not affecting the QR changes

Once the user scans the QR code, a pause message is sent to to the FE websockets - this should have an effect on the QR code.
Once the user has successfully scanned the QR code, an ACK message is sent to the FE websockets - this too should have an effect on the QR code.
