Upset about your uncompleted product Solokey USB A

deemike opened this issue · 5 comments

I am very upset about your uncompleted product Solokey USB A. A couple of times it let me down a lot while I was trying to enter My binance and coinbase accounts. I was lucky that I had a second key Trezor connected. In short, you cannot release such an unfinished product. It is currently not detected by any site in any browser.

I still did not understand how to update the firmware. Solo-desktop is a non-working program, solo through the terminal pours endless errors. It is too much for the average user. Trezor has excellent working software. Trezor is also a password manager and a crypto wallet. I'd rather buy myself a second Trezor.

Hello @deemike ,

can you give us some more information?

OS Type (Windows, Linux, MacOS)
Solo version
Did you only try webupdate? I havn't had any problems using solo python.

Which browser did you use?
Which sites don't work? (e.g. I use my keys on Google, github, and some other sites and I havn't had No problems yet).

Thanks Jan

I am on macOS 10.15.7.
I have a Solo Somu Hacker unlocked. FW 4.1.5.
I installed solo-python with "pip3 install solo-python".
I can verify the key with "solo key verify" and it's recognized as valid key after touching the key.
I can register and login with the key on https://webauthn.io. in Firefox.

As a result, the update was successful, but the key is not detected by any of the above sites. Until the last update, the key with firmware 3.1.2 was also not detected. The key worked only at the beginning when it came to me for about a year.

Hi @deemike
the actual fw version is 4.1.5 for Solo V1

You might use command line tool solo python instead of webupdate. Installation can be done over python pip.
I don't use MacOS, so I don't know how to install pip, but I found that: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-install-pip-on-a-mac-4770795

After pip is working you can install solo-python:
pip install solo-python

Now check solo version. Insert stick and use:
solo key version
This should show your solo version

To update your solo use:
solo key update
This should update your Solo to latest version

After that it might work better as before.

Hi @jolo1581

I tried solo-python.
Nope. After all the updates, everything remained unchanged. I think my solokey is dead. But thanks anyway for the help.
