I'm new to Budgie (but not to Linux) and landed on https://budgie-desktop.org/ from https://ubuntubudgie.org/about.

If this is a DE for "the modern user", then please add some screenshots or a landing page that makes me want to try it!

This is all I see right now on the homepage:

Then there's the confusion with Solus... :-/

Good thing to remember - the paradox of choice. I'm going to stick with Ubuntu/Unity for now.

Then there's the confusion with Solus... :-/

Solus is the primary developers of Budgie (Ikey and cybre make up the majority of the contributions) and is the first place you'll see Budgie updates land, thus it makes sense for us to promote it. It's no different than Fedora and GNOME.

I do agree that some screenshots are needed though 👍

Edit: Formulating better reply ...

OK trying a better more in depth reply ...

Long story short we can't really help the confusion aspect. Solus originally created Budgie for itself, and Budgie has since grown and extended to other projects. This shouldn't be seen as some validation that Solus shouldn't exist, as Solus has multiple desktops and far more value-add than just a desktop. We care more about the OS itself.

For users of Budgie, they're free to use that on whatever OS/distro they want, and typically a user would pick a distro based on more than just a desktop, or at least, you'd hope :)

I think its unnecessary to state "paradox of choice", given that Solus isn't exactly new anymore, and we exist for more than just a DE.

But ya, screenshots would help.

My apologies for how I came across, and thanks for clarifying the situation. Makes sense now.
