I try to get compressed Jpeg images or files from the scanner, but I get uncompressed BMP images or files

I'm using an InoTec M06 scanner, which can create Jpeg and Bmp files. (compressed and uncompressed).
When I set the settings to compressed and call Enable, scanning starts, but compressed is again set to uncompressed.
Is there a way to get compressed images or files?
