Additional context
I've been using cody for months without an issue. THis only started happening within the last week.
I tried the prerelease version to and I'm running into the same issue.
I'm also sometimes seeing an error like this in the chat bar:

@iloveitaly I think you should add a separate issue with your problem. I tried myself even installing github copilot and having it open on a Mac and I couldn't reproduce your issue.
I tried:
- Opening a file outside of the workspace
- Creating a new file with smart apply and trying to select
- opening an existing file
In all of these cases add to selection using the keyboard shortcut, ctrl + shift + p and selecting the action or right clicking and choosing cody - add selection all worked.
I suspect you might have some extension conflicts, I would suggest you try to create a new profile with just cody installed and see if the issues is still present.
If it is and you can find any time of warning from the console or easily reproducible steps to bug then please open the ticket and share your finding as that would help the developers fix the problem quicker.
Interesting, I didn't realize there were different profiles. Will give this a shot and report back. Thanks for the tip.
Please re-open this thread if the issue still persists in the latest build(s) of Cody.
