Flat looking appearance of dark objects caused by high base reflectivity

Current state:

With zero base reflectivity:

When put side by side like this, I personally don't dislike how they look. Could potentially apply a noisy normal map to make the reflection less uniformly distributed.

Still affects magma cube in the Nether and making it look too bright. Time to acknowledge it as an issue.
