GB RTC? core hasnt been updated in over a year

Opened this issue · 9 comments

Hi this hasn't been updated in over a year since august 2022
is there still work being done on the GB cores? or has it been abandoned?
I would like to see RTC support added to the gameboy core by the end of year
please let me know if this and any updates are still being worked on thank you

Unless Analoge itself releases a new firmware, which they last did in May without any update for Cores, there is no reason to update this...

Display Filters should be the next "big thing" triggering also an update here👩🏼‍⚕️

Unless Analoge itself releases a new firmware

Analogue already released support for RTC, and some cores have already implemented it.

Let's see... just shy of 2000 games benefit from Display Modes, less than 20 games benefit from RTC support ...(thinking about priority here)

they said the 2.0 update will have the filters so will the cores get a update once 2.0 releases?

thats not the point the point is this is a $300 device it should have basic features like RTC

This here is a 3rd party, open-source, unsupported and unfunded by Analogue, ...project on github for openFPGA cores.
You oughta ask the actual company making the device (Analogue) to add RTC support for the basic cartridge funtionality, but here ain't the place.

RTC is easier to implement in the firmware than support for Display Modes across different rendering targets.

But it does have RTC. It's just that this core has not been updated to use RTC.

RTC is a feature of the cartridge, not the console, therefore the Analogue Pocket already supports it.

but why hasn't the core been updated to use RTC what's the hold up?

The developer is likely too busy, we don't know. It's likely the core will be updated when the latest firmware arrives, as it will bring more features such as display modes
