the last update was more than 4 months ago. I really wanted to use this package but I can't if it is deprecated

@eejdoowad it would be super awesome to get a little guidance on this -- all the work you've put into this library makes it really appealing! If you'd be open to allowing other maintainers to participate in the project too that would probably help keep this awesome library alive!
