How can those of us who aren't good Java programmers support the project, either with testing, equipment, sample files, or money?

You name it. Testing is good, especially with newer versions of popular devices (e.g. Garmin). Unfortunately I can't buy all of them ;) and there is no development support with devices from the manufacturers.
In case of problems good error reports with example test files and expected result data are helpful.
