Internal padding for text

Hi there,

Thanks for your contribution to l3afpad!

I was precisely looking for a very simple and lightweight text editor
that does nothing more than allow me to modify text.

I have a small feature suggestion and would love to hear your opinion on
this.

From my point of view, a slight internal text padding would make
reading the lines more convenient. Attached you see how the current
state is being displayed without padding.

Could you think of adding an internal padding to the options menu,
allowing the user to toggle between padding being enabled/disabled?

Thanks!

Sorry I have not login to github for quite some time.
And I have stopped maintaining GTK+ 3.x based applications.

@caleb-

Thanks for your response.

What a pity that l3afpad will no longer be maintained.

Do you have any specific reasons for no longer using GTK3?

Don't worry, there is one person want to take over maintenance of l3afpad.
We are working on this. :-)

This is great to hear! ๐Ÿ‘

It would be a shame for such a great lightweight editor to being no longer developed.

Thanks

Thank-you @caleb- ๐Ÿ‘

I will take care of it for you, I promise ๐Ÿ˜„

@orschiro I'll go through the code at the weekend and let you know about this feature request.

I haven't forgotten, just been busy ๐Ÿ‘Ž
Something like this?

@stevenhoneyman

Yes! Awesome.

Indeed a basic option under the Option tab to toggle a slight padding for increased readability. ๐Ÿ‘

I guess @orschiro want bigger spaces between lines, not the surrounding spaces.

@caleb-

No, in fact I was particularly interested in padding from the edges of the window. However, a padding option could of course also add a slight padding between the lines.

What do you think? Does that also enhance readability for you?

Not for me it wouldn't... If line spacing becomes an issue, I think you need a better font?

Border padding just keeps the text slightly away from the edges of the window.

Open to suggestions/opinions though!

Alright.

Thus, I agree that a padding option should only add a border but no line spacing.

@stevenhoneyman Did you have this implemented somewhere, or did you just gimp/photoshop it in the image?
