Effect suggestion: Dyadic covariate effect for two-mode networks

Closed this issue · 1 comments

I'd like to suggest a new effect, namely the effect of a covariate W leading to agreement along X.

Practically, this is a covariate version of the multiple network effect "W leading to agreement along X, (X: W to agreement) (to)", listed in the manual as effect 18 in 12.1.3 Multiple network effects and in the EffectsDocumentation as

489 xxxxxx to agreement to TRUE xxxxxx   0 dyadic

Currently, I believe there are no dyadic covariate effects for two-mode networks implemented.
There are a number of (one-mode) network effects on two-mode networks, besides the mentioned "to", there is also "toBack", "toRecip", and "sharedTo", which I believe indicates the usefulness of such effects.

The suggested effect is only relevant in a two-mode specification since regular dyadic convariate effects can be applied when the two-mode network is converted into an one-mode version. My apologies if I missed that there is another way to create such an effect for a two-mode version.

PS.: A response on groups.io mentioned this github site, so I hope this is the right place for this. Unfortunately, my github/C++ skills are effectively non-existent to make a meaningful contribution (yet)

Would this be the WXX effect for a dyadic covariate on the first mode?
