supermemo/SuperMemoAssistant

users' perspective on the future

I don't know how to express my thoughts less harshly; but I have some questions related to the use of the support you give to SuperMemo.

  • The first question is related to the system development process. From the dates of commits I deduce that the process, although not completely blocked, is certainly very uncertain. So, it seems to me that the development program doesn't seem to care about users' perspective on the future development. So, I tried it, your system of support to SuperMemo, it seems to work but I find it absolutely unreliable. Investing the time to create a memory support system, as the developers of SuperMemo themselves claim, requires certainty, stability and continuity. None of this is provided by you.
  • At the second point, I put the only problem taken seriously by the SuperMemo developers themselves: mathjax. I see you provide latex support, but the reality is that for the basic structure of SuperMemo, it is not latex support that is the problem but mathjax support. You do not seem to propose anything in this regard. So what good is your latex support?
  • Finally, you use Mathpix platform to overcome the pdf IR problem. But, I would like to point out that this is somewhat useless. MathPix allows, like other ocr platforms, to transform an entire pdf file into a plain text file with latex combination for the formulas or other scientific writing symbols. Then, through a simple text editor such as Vim, NeoVim or Emacs or a command line linear editor, it is possible to manipulate this text to obtain a simple text (or html text) that can be manipulated directly in SuperMemo in IR process. So what is all this effort for? I use it, but what is the real future of SuperMemoAssistant?

SuperMemo developers quote you. But I don't think they are convinced. What can you say to convince SuperMemo users? Do you feel like saying something or do you consider it a simple pastime?
