I just recently set up an account for my child to use and it would be helpful if I could rename myself on their device (so i can put dad). And also rename them on mine.

Let's also keep an eye on MSC3865, as this may become part of the spec in future :)

Also hoping for this feature, I use a lot of bridges that sometimes don't get renamed so I'll have entire group chats full of apha1234567890servername=_website@server.com instead of John or Anna

That would be a good placeholder until that MSC gets implemented as long as it can be done to each account in a chat or have some sort of contact list or something.

Honestly don't care how, just need to be able to tell who is who lol

Just thought of this, would that also include the profile images the MSC mentioned or just names and leave images to whenever the MSC gets dealt with
