[CON | Malmo] Change language offers in a Mentoring topics

Closed this issue · 4 comments

Context/background

We opened Connect for Malmo and there is a request to change language offers in Mentoring topics (for mentor and mentee) on the profile page.

What needs to be done?

  1. To change language from Basic German and Business German to just Swedish 🇸🇪.
Change to be done on both mentor's and mentee's profiles.

  1. Please write down in a GitHub thread how much time this task takes.

Thanks

This really means location-specific mentoring topics. That's not an easy change to make - we're talking days of effort and a significant increase in codebase complexity.

Can I rather suggest we simply add "Swedish" as a mentoring topic to both locations? That would take like 30 - 60 minutes.

Hey @ericbolikowski, thanks a lot for this important piece of info. I have no idea.
Your suggestion is perfect, let's go with it.
THAAAAANK YOOOOOOU!

@astkhikatredi, I want to add my 5 cents here. In the "new mentoring topics" work, based on the UX research and user interviews, we removed those language-specific topics. Since we're not going to merge that and you wanted to brainstorm new ideas with stakeholders, maybe you could bring up the purpose of having language-specific topics? We could even get the actual data about how many mentees chose those topics. In the end, ReDI is not a language school, and mentees have a limited number of topics they can choose (max 4).

Thanks for the comment dear @katamatata
Hadeer did a research on topic: "Enhancing Topic Alignment for Effective Mentorship on ReDI Connect" and she has some data available, we touched it very-very briefly and decided that it will be a part of our discussion when we review a mentorship revamp milestone. So we will have: this research, tickets from the mentorship revamp, and results of a a research that Ligia will analyze soon. I hope all that info will be enough to make a proper action plan.

Just in case here is a screenshot about language topics:
