Server Error 500 with incomplete application on iOS

Describe the Bug
I tried to submit an application that had everything filled out except race, which produced a Server Error 500. Going back and filling out race submitted the application like normal.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Complete everything on application except race
- Attempt to submit
Expected behavior
I should be shown an error message indicating that my application was incomplete.
