This was my first time install so followed instructions, thanks. Couple of suggestions:
-
Access to PCB is really easy - 4 mains screws under the base.
-
I removed the WiFI panel cable (carefully as these connectors often break) which made it easier.
-
Use of 'plugin' - this means 'plug power in' (I had stupidly thought I powered via the connector)
-
Mating a standard PCB header with a connector viable F-F ribbon cable to the USB adapter makes a robust way of holding the GND/TX/RX pins in place whilst programming.
-
Small fine tip tweezers make the shorting of the program pins easy
I thought it might be helpful to have a picture of the PCB (though your instructions were quite clear). Attached in case you want to use it !
Thanks again for doing this, Winston is very happy !
@randomscot22 I think I've implemented all of these in #15 and #18
Sadly i cant get my into programming mode. I bound b and g together when powering on and it doesn’t go into boot mode. I have the same version of the motherboard but im wondeing if the firmware is blocking programming mode.

It took me several times the first time to get it to work. Are you keeping b and g shorted the entire time?
I tried keeping them shorted. Tried pulling off. When I look at the logs it’s always booting into the stock firmware as I see mqtt messages so I’m sure the rx tx and grd pins are working right. Powered via usb too. I’ll try again sometime but this is the most difficult time I’ve had flashing.
I had a time flashing and eventually it just worked, So I don't know if it was just me or what but here is basically what I ended up doing. This was a while ago so you may need to try this in a different order
Connected to the stock firmware with their app and did a setup on there
Tried to flash this firmware
tried to flash the stock firmware file (If you can't flash the stock firmware either, then it might be something with your flasher?)
tried to flash this firmware (a few times)
and it worked at some point. I honestly thought I was doing a bad job of shorting it or something, but it's possible there is something else going on here. Let me know if any of these solutions work for you
