Bug description
I installed Polo on a Ubuntu 18.04 system and it doesn't start. When I check the terminal, this is what it shows this critical error:
Failed to open file “/home/dugi/.gphoto/.hidden

Then it jams in uninterruptible sleep.

The owner of that folder was root for some reasons, but when I gave all rights to myself, it stoppped appearing, but no window opens anyway.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install Polo on an Ubuntu machine that never ran it before
  2. Run it without root privileges

Expected behavior
I expected it to open up

System:

  • Ubuntu 18.04
  • Gnome Shell
  • Polo v18.8.3

Strange it works for me.
