The cardinal directions are correct. They are mirrored, because the chart shows the sky over your head. For more details, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planisphere

But there is a problem with the location. The App did not receive a GPS location and uses the default location. See the small text on the top, it says "GPS: 0". It should turn to "GPS: 1" after the App received an GPS location. For Los Angeles timezone, the longitude should be negative. At the moment, you are using Los Angeles time with a location in central Europe. Try to enter the location manually and check #8 if there are problems with the location service.
I will probably improve the location dialog in some way. It seems to be confusing and counter intuitive.
There is a new location dialog in v1.7.0 and a new help text. Hope that reduces confusion for new users in the future. Having a more extensive info line at the top is also a good idea. I keept that for later.
