No BackUp Method

Many users tend to try different systems and build images regularly. Currently there is no method of restoring which I think will make the process much smoother and much less bandwidth wasted. For example I have probably downloaded 100GB from your github but its the same 5GB of data 20x. lets say i change from retrobat to emuelec to batocera. i am having to redownload each time which is very time consuming. currently there is download or remove. if it finds files already in the location it gives the update option but it still downloads the entire catalog and binds all the configs. it would be so much easier if i could just copy my bezelproject to the location then run "rebind/update" which will scan all the files and download what i need. if i dont need any new files it just fixes the configs so my bezels work. i have unlimited data on my house internet but i dont know it just seems like such a waste of time and resources redownloading everything repeatedly. i am not sure if this is possible or if I am saying it correctly but an option to just rebind all the files seems so much more efficient instead of starting from scratch each time. MOST IMPORtANTLY! You Guys Are Amazing! Thank You So Much For All The Hard Work. Please Dont Think I Am Being Unappreciative I Absolutely Love What You Guys Do
It would be an almost impossible job to compare your existing content against what the different repos contain, especially since many people have a number of files that need to be renamed.
It is very easy to copy/backup your existing bezels. Just use OS commands to copy the config and overlays directories from under the Retroarch install location to some other location. I do this all the time.
Could you explain what you mean exactly? I have a bezelproject folder which has subfolders for each system that contains all the actual bezels that i backed up. Initially i hoped that it would not redownload all the bezels and just would rebind all the configurations to retroarch. Is it as simple as backing up another directory? Guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Ok so looking at what is downloaded i just need to back up the config file locations and the bezel directories and should be good?
I personally copy and backup /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config and /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/overlay either across the network, or local sd card when I want to try other distros, or reinstall a new version.
