Firstly, thanks so much for this and the video guide. I've successfully implemented our first motorised curtain following your instructions. I wondered if you'd found a way to stop/reduce the steps, as you mentioned in the video you might look at altering the ino to do this - the motor is obnoxiously loud, and with fewer or no wait periods it may get more WAF and let me do more!

Could be done on an esp32 by running the MQTT code on one core and the motor code on the other. I might take a crack at it.
