Describe your problem.
KernelSU has been proven to work well on 4.4+ kernels. If you encounter a problem, it is most likely your own problem. It is recommended to read the official documentation carefully and search in the issue first!
If we find that this issue has been reported, we will close your issue directly!

For non-GKI devices, each kernel is different; and some kernels even have cherry-picked commits from higher or even lower versions. This mess makes it very difficult for us to directly tell you the exact reason why it "does not work". However, the above covers most of the cases, even though the solutions may not directly solve your kernel issue, the methodology is the same.
You will need certain kernel expertise, being able to understand those commits, in order to have a chance of making it work on your weird old kernel.
