Improve Linux launching

Describe the detailed feature you want?
Create a better user experience for launching app on Linux, e.g., with self
extracting archive executable, or the like.
Currently displays terminal window that doesn't automatically go away and
because it is a shell script, at least on Ubuntu, user will be prompted whether
to execute or open, if their preferences aren't set just so.
Please provide any additional information below.
