EdgeWeather with Synology NAS Squid Proxy?

Has anybody made EdgeWeather work with a Squid proxy (HTTP proxy on default port 3128)? I had a spare Raspberry PI so it was no biggie to set it up, but ideally, I'd love to use my Synology NAS as it's on my network 24/7. I've tried to use HTTP calls to weather.gov, no authentication, and full access from any IP to any IP, but still no luck.
