Setting root font size to 62.5%

Not an issue, more like a question. Why do you set root font size to 112.5% ?
Wouldn't it be easier if it is set to 62.5%, that way we get 10px = 1rem, and that allows for much easier calculations.
Am I missing something obvious here?

We like big type. 112.5% equates to 18px which is still 1rem, but in this case 1rem = 18px instead of 1rem = 10px. Either way you have the choice to change it based on your needs.
