What are colorDomain(s)?

What are colorDomain(s)?

In the docs I'm referred to a page here: https://github.com/uber/react-vis/blob/master/docs/scales-and-data.md

But, I cannot determine where these colorDomain(s) are? I've slapped in string values and seen the colors change, but what I imagined was like "yellows", meaning a range of yellow colors would be used for different data points... but, nothing is clear. I tried words that I shouldn't post and they changed the whole look!? But, not "yellow" or "yellows".

So, where are these colorDomains please? Would somebody add them to the docs?
