Bug causing close and restart

From master, upon clicking calendar from home screen, the app briefly crashes and then reopens to the page where it previously was.
I had experienced this previously before we started modifying the source code, but it seems to be increasing in frequency. Could be an issue with my emulator, not the actual app.
