When active, Youtube mute and volume up/down have seconds long delay

Once the extension takes control of the audio on YouTube, YouTube's volume up/down and mute functions act on the audio seconds later. It's making me entirely reliant on the extension's gain controls and my system's volume controls.

That's just how the browser works, I can't do anything about it.
