Multimedia message aren't backed up

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Android-sms for the first time.
2. Click back up.
3. Check messages in GMail
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Message threads with images attached are not backed up
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
This is 1.1.1/FroYo on a HTC Desire and also on 1.1.1/Gingerbread on Samsung
