After speaking with Michela, it seems wise to continue pursuing this special issue of IEEE for our paper's publication: https://cis.ieee.org/publications/t-neural-networks-and-learning-systems/
It suits the use case, and we address some of the challenges of machine learning in the geo-sciences in our paper. It's a March 12th deadline for submission.
I'll paste the Overleaf document here once I get it setup.
