Anyone?

@inlinecoder There is a fork I have been maintaining, attempting to get off the ground at https://github.com/quine-global/hyper . No release yet but CI is fixed and a number of other changes have been merged, both from my own work and from @corneliusroemer

Hey everyone,

I’m excited to announce that the Quine fork of Hyper has its first canary release live! We’ve added scrollable tabs, upgraded dependencies, and improved the CI pipeline — and this is just the beginning.

Check it out here:
https://github.com/quine-global/hyper/releases/tag/v4.0.0-q-canary.6

We’re looking for contributors to help squash bugs, build new features, and set up the autoupdate channel. If you’re excited about pushing this project forward, jump in — open an issue, send a PR, or just DM me (quine@fastmail.com). Let’s make something awesome together.

Cheers,
Philip

@philip-peterson , is it an official/approved initiative? What Vercel thinks about it?

@inlinecoder It is an unofficial fork, since we have not heard from Vercel about this project for some years.

@philip-peterson, is your fork meant to replace this or do you plan to try to get your changes merged back? (PS I have cloned your version so it's just out of interest for the future)

@ivanwills I've tried to get my changes that are part of the fork merged back (increase in Electron version) but it really seems that Vercel has given up on this repo sadly.

See my PRs: https://github.com/vercel/hyper/pulls/corneliusroemer

Philip has also made a bunch - there's absolutely nothing going on in here anymore. I wouldn't mind if Vercel came back to it and adopted the commits.

@corneliusroemer
Did you or anyone else tried to contact maintainers directly? Well, this looks like vercel threw away this awesome thing, but maybe the developers responsible for it could shed some light into the situation. I'm aware that it has been a year without updates, but I'm just curious.

@Igor4er I haven't done anything outside of tagging the maintainer in various issues and making PRs.

As a last resort, might make sense to reach out to @rauchg on social media, IIUC he's the founder of Vercel and started hyper as well, maybe he's not aware of the lack of maintenance and might be moved to revive it if he becomes aware.

One could also post to Hacker News as an example of Vercel silently dropping maintenance without proper announcement and in direct contradiction to promises made in roadmap.
