appIcon does not work on Big Sur

With either a file path or URL, no icon is displayed. This tested on Big Sur 11.3. Will try again shortly on 11.4.

Try using the "-sender" parameter. The sender app's icon should be displayed and look like this:
But, Notification Centre in Big Sur is quite different to 10.15 and earlier. For example, it would be useful if Alerter provided access to the additional options available in the top right hand corner of Big Sur notifications:
