play/pause inside/outside viewport inconsistency

I am using multiple video instances on a single page – also using the fullpage.js script (http://alvarotrigo.com/fullPage/).
Some videos behave as expected, playing when in viewport and pausing when not, while some keep playing also when not in the viewport.
Any ideas what could cause this issue?
