Unknown `show_mod_tag` Tag

It's showing up on Nyx, but also several other people, who are not staff.
Even this Oculus user and several others:

So it is unlikely it has anything to do with moderation powers.
Could it maybe have been the old "Show As User", before it moved to registry key? No that was show_social_rank
.
Pretty sure it's still used to show the red nameplate for team members.
For those that aren't part of the team, it doesn't do anything. (Since we could manually add tags to our own account)

Hi Phaxe!
So it could be showing red nameplate, but only for people who are staff? So would that then be a combination of also having admim_moderator
or developerType internal
?
That kind of detail is something I guess doesn't need to be documented. "Shows red nameplate if Staff" would be enough. But then I am curious how these seemingly unrelated accounts also have gotten the tag. If these are undercover staff accounts then it doesn't make sense to give them admin nameplate...
Not sure if it's still working or not, but there was a time we could add custom tags using the api. These were just "strings" with no relation to anything.
That's how some have this tag.
The tag show_mod_tag
has been confirmed by a friend to be the toggle for the "Full-Red nameplate", and that this is still implemented in the vanilla client as of 1160.
VRChat staff can toggle in-game between "Staff / User", just like how we can toggle between "Trusted / User", but that only affects the trust ranks and only the text above the nameplate. There is then this separate tag which affects the color of the nameplate itself.

@PhaxeNor Yes, there was a period when you could upload arbitrary tags, for example system_cute
, but those have all since been scrubbed. Every single person whom I've talked to who had custom tags have had them deleted a long time ago.
