What does " (inv.)" after some currency names mean?

I'm seeing (inv.) after some of the currency names, e.g. Zambian kwacha (inv.) - what does it mean?

"(inv.)" after a currency name stands for "invariable." It means that the currency name does not change in plural form. For example, "Zambian kwacha" remains "kwacha" in both singular and plural contexts.

Arguably, it's not a great way of handling it, though. Should really be a flag or even better a singular and plural name for currencies.
