As far as the library being up-to-date, is there any specific functionality from the python library that's you're looking for? Please let me know, as I haven't looked at the original library in a little while.

thanks. i checked the original library and it has commits until last month. therefore i thought there might be some differences

I've added some basic docs to the README. There's more functionality that what is documented, but hopefully this will be enough to get you started.

There are some recent performance improvements in the python lib that we should definitely implement here, but functionality should be very similar, even to the most recent python release.
