BOM does not pass PCBWay review process

Opened this issue · 1 comments

The BOM is not complete according to PCBWay. I sent them the BOM to have them build it and they came back with quite a few questions. It's obvious this project is for people much smarter than myself. So, that's on me for even attempting to try this. But the questions they are asking are way over my ability to answer. Perhaps nothing needs to be changed, but I thought it was worthwhile bringing up that the BOM as is, will not pass PCBWay's review process. Some of the questions they ask are about inventory warnings and minimum order quantities. Which obviously are not an issue, but there are seven lines on the BOM that need clarification. I am including what they sent me. Again, if I was savvy about this stuff, maybe the questions are childish and easy. But I'm too dumb to know. Sorry.

Half of the issues they raise are basically substitutions they are proposing they make, likely as they can't source the specified parts. But some of them are issues with the BOM (that I've also encountered, and am tracking in #8).

  • REF3030AIDBZR - "[moq=10];"
    • No idea what this means; it's probably just an internal PCBWay note, not something they are asking you.
  • DMG6602SVT - "Please provide exact part number."
    • My part picker also complained about the part number. AFAICT this is the DiodesZetex DMG6602SVT-7; I have not figured out what the -7 means to DiodesZetex.
  • OMNI-BLOK 154010.0 / OMNI-BLOK 154005.0 - "Is it fuse?"
    • They have made a similar mistake to what I noted in #8, and appear to be proposing to purchase the replacement fuses (0451010.MRL / 0451005.MRL) for which the part numbers in the comments were correct, not the fuses + holders (0154010.DR / 0154005.DR) for which the BOM used catalogue numbers. You want 0154010.DR / 0154005.DR.
  • B0520LW - "The part we will supply is made by CJ,B0520LW(250uA@20V 20V Single 0.39V@0.5A 0.5A SOD-123 Schottky Barrier Diodes),ok?Only 230pcs total in stock, please confirm ASAP."
    • This is a suggested replacement, for which they are listing its electrical characteristics. It looks compatible with the DiodesZetex version.
  • MMSZ5232BS - "The part we will supply is made by CJ,MMSZ5232BS(5uA@3V 11Ω Single 5.32V~5.88V 200mW 5.6V SOD-323 Zener Diodes),ok?"
  • 22uF 16V 0805 X7R Ceramic Capacitor (+5V Internal Decoupling caps) - "X5R,ok?"
    • They are asking whether it is okay to use a part with X5R dielectric instead of X7R dielectric. Here is an explainer about ceramic capacitor codes. The difference is that X7R is rated up to 125°C while X5R is only rated up to 85°C. But they both allow ±15% change of capacitance over that temperature range, and these capacitors are used for smoothing the 5VSB and VBUS line voltages, so assuming your environment doesn't get particularly hot X5R is probably fine.
  • LR2512-23R010F4 - "Only 280pcs total in stock, please confirm ASAP."
    • I think this is just letting you know that they found this part, but they need the overall BOM confirmed quickly as supply is limited of this part.
  • 10K Ohm 0603 Resistor (Pullup/down) - "Qty:8?"
    • Same issue I noted in #8; yes you want 8, not 7.
  • A2541HWV-4P - "There are 2 kinds diameter. What we quoted is C5176037, diameter is 1.19mm, not plated gold. Please check .(C225501 -1.19, plated gold/ C5144876 - 0.064mm)Please tell which one you need"
    • I think what they are asking is to confirm whether this PIN header should have 1.19mm or 0.64mm PINs (both for connecting into the PCB and for connecting to the OLED display). Pretty sure you want 0.64mm here, as that's pretty standard for headers with 0.1" PIN spacing (vs 1.19mm which I think the MOLEX connector to the ATX power supply uses), but I can't confirm without knowing the OLED display model (which is not specified: #9).
