connector line thickness in addition to color

dot node size in addition to dot node color

text size, text position, text color

An additional big clue for y'all: in my research toward what would become "tuning space visualizer", I found that using pure 50% gray or a slightly warmed sepia-gray background field provides the most options for using both black and white, and colors to encode additional information. More "headroom" for contrast both lighter and darker.
