can't rename multiple pdf files

I'm using the command:
isbn_ren "{title} ({year})(ISBN-{isbn})" *.pdf

If I only have one pdf file, it gets renames. If I have two pdf files, online gets renamed. If I have three PDF files, nothing gets renamed and the usage is displayed. Each of the files works fine when in the directory by itself, so there is no issues with the files. The issue is when there are multiple files in the directory.

Any ideas?

whoops, I missed that the *.pdf needs to be in quotes.
