Download fails

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open php manual
2. select english
3. click download
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should download english version.
The download status box opens and closes within about 1 second and the screen
flashes very briefly.
It does save a file called phpmanual.zip in mnt/sdcard but it is 0.00bytes in
length. I downloaded the english version from the downloads section to pc and
unzipped and copied to mnt/sdcard/php-manual (I created the folder) but when
opening the app it still tried and fails to download.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
version on Play (26 July 2012) version 1.0.
OS = android 4.0.3 7" tablet labelled as AstroPlus. Google play recognises it
as 'Unknown ASTROPLUS'.
Please provide any additional information below.
I am happy to try a few things on my device if it would help?

I have the exact same problem on my Nexus S with android 4.1.1.
App version 1.0, latest from google Play(29.07.2012)

Uninstalling and reinstalling the app doesn't fix the issue.

A Workaround for this is:
1. Download your prefered archive from here:
http://code.google.com/p/android-phpmanual/downloads/list
2. unzip it on your External Memory in a folder named: php-manual
I looked over the code of the application, but I haven't found the problem yet.
I'm still trying to contact the project Owner.
