Hi! Sorry for the late response, I've been pretty busy lately. The reason why the ModLoader currently doesn't work on MacOS is because Hinterland have switched to the IL2CPP scripting back-end on that platform, which the mod loader does not support. (They switched to IL2CPP on Windows, Linux, and Mac first, but then they reverted that change on Windows and Linux due to lots of crashes.)

There's really not much I can do to address this issue. The only way this could be fixed would be if Hinterland decided to also switch back to the Mono scripting back-end on MacOS, which I think they're unlikely to do.

Also, just as a heads-up for the future: downloading random DLL files from the internet will never solve any such issues 😉

Hey Ze Obviously Fake Account,

Just tried the .jar file to patch the game, but I noticed it still has this error on the latest build (which you kindly linked to this issue). I'm assuming Hinterland has not reverted the scripting change, has there been any progress from the ModLoaderInstaller to support such a patch?

Additionally, is there any way to manually edit the game contents? I'd try searching through RAM addresses if I thought it would work but I doubt that's possible on MacOS given SIP permissions (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Integrity_Protection) though it is running on my user so IDK.

Thanks for your support, sorry for the headache.

Oh right, I wanted to ask. My Mac is the only powerful-enough machine currently accessible to me this week, but if I were to install TheLongDark on my Linux ThinkPad, I wonder if the saves would still sync up properly (given that the saves are genuinely different types), would be brutal if they didn't but it makes sense. MacOS being the oddball as usual.

Thanks,

@zeobviouslyfakeacc thanks for your reply.l will try to contant with the company.

I have this same issue currently, on Windows 10.

Hi @andrewsmyname

This mod loader hasn't worked for The Long Dark for quite some time, as Hinterland changed the Unity scripting backend.
We're now using MelonLoader instead. For instructions on how to install MelonLoader and how to install mods, see "HOW TO INSTALL MODS" at the top of Xpazeman's TLD mod list 🙂
