I've tried to set HUGO_VERSION=v0.112.1+extended which is used in your latest theme version and I've got this error:
Error: error building site: TOCSS: failed to transform "style.scss" (text/x-scss): "/opt/buildhome/repo/themes/serif/assets/scss/style.scss:10:20": Invalid CSS after "...nt-family-base:": expected expression (e.g. 1px, bold), was "<no value>, Helveti"
It doesn't work with latest hugo version too.

Ok for those who lazy to read installation steps, go and copy example web site as stated in readme :D Also you must use extended hugo version or else it will fail to deploy
