Since we are now platform independent, we can't rely on the PPA or imls-update systemd script anymore.
It would be nice if we could automatically update our code independently. This is a spike to explore this option -- what is needed, what are the tradeoffs, what can't we do?

If we need something broader than just go, I've been part of a project that used Sparkle and WinSparkle in the past.
No tradeoffs/eval yet.
